Transparent Dreams

    Outside my window
I watch Silver Birch with satin bark
    pierce wintry vapors of evening.
    Celestial calm enfolds the
    helpless night in saintly radiance
    as Heaven sews her stars,
    one by one.
    Leaves lie buried
    in the breathless hush
    of silent prayer,
    as all the birds
    settle on earth’s terrestrial fabrics,
    beneath a silken curtained sky,
    where glorious is the blending
    of humble ground
    and the noblest tree.
