Magnolia Princess

    She wears a gown of noble green,
    her arms reach out to great each guest;
    she’ll coax the little birds to rest
    on peaceful boughs, where they convene.

    Her scepter branches o’er the lawn,
    and when the morning has begun,
    she’ll grant permission for the sun
    to place her golden headdress on.

    Wide flowers form into a crown
    that’s worn above her gentle face.
    In all, it’s her sweet southern grace
    that flows out like a princess gown.

    Her blossoms, tinged in lemon-white,
    sustain their scent when evening swirls
    to kiss her petals, set like pearls,
    bejeweled in regal leaves-- goodnight.
