Ocean Dance

    The sea is wearing palest green today.
    She gently sways her hips from left to right,
    And flowing skirts, all trimmed in lacy white,
    Lift up in breezes, blowing near the bay.

    Around her waist, a wide bandanna of
    The deepest colors melded into one,
    And balanced on her crest, a noonday sun
    Reflects the lighter blue from high above.

    She gathers tossed up pebbles from the shore
    And takes them far out with the ebbing tide;
    Between the reefs where Garibaldi glide,
    She lets them rest upon the ocean floor.

    Her swirling feet touch on the coastal sand,
    Then, in the sunset, turn a hazel-gold;
    Soon, evening clouds all scatter to unfold
    The moon, who smiles upon the sea and land.
