Shades of Blue

    I sipped a tiny cup of sky and sea,
    So that their azure hues might lift my heart.
    They seeped into my soul and would not part--
    Now deeper shades of blue are filling me.

    This little tonic dream has swilled each pain;
    It seeps around the clouds inside my head--
    But by those swirling thoughts, I’m gently led
    Into a sadder, beautiful domain.
