Summer Song

I sing into the moonlit summer night,
When golden stars have settled into space
And tilt down from the heaven’s darkened face
To shine their mellow parasols of light.
Tonight I find no reason to despair:
My drifting notes have pierced the skies above,
An endless benediction, wrapped in love
That passes spheres on sweet melodic air.
This vindicating grace will soothe my soul,
As all my earthly woes are left behind.
I keep a sweetened memory in my mind,
Of good things, that are only pure and whole.
By dawn my lilting lays are put to rest,
In morning’s gentle sunshine I'll be dressed.
