Waioli Tea House

    Today I dig my toes into the lawn,
    Relaxing on my plastic folding chair,
    Just waiting for the noontime rain to fall--
    Manoa Valley clouds spread everywhere.

    Hibiscus speckle the long garden hedge
    I pass upon my daily sweet regime
    Of lounging near the tea house’s lanai
    While eating scoops of passion fruit ice-cream.

    The balmy breezes funnel from the shore
    and wave the palms that grow across the street;
    Another day in paradise, I think,
    I’ll sit and watch the showers hit my feet.
